We are a family-owned, 'āina based education resource located on the upper slopes of Hilo Palikū.
We provide hands-on, place-based, outdoor education for local schools, 'ohana, and community groups.
Ahupua'a of Kaiwiki
Our 'āina is located at the edge of the Hilo forest reserve in the ahupuaʻa of Kaiwiki on the slopes of Mauna Kea. We are home to 'ōhi'a, koa, hapuʻu and 'Io and our mission is to preserve and enhance this precious ecosystem.
Our ʻOhana
Hilo Uka Education is family owned and operated by the Atkins ʻohana. Through our collective experience, we have worked at charter schools, public schools, home schools, and virtual schools throughout the Pae 'Āina. We are passionate about educating the next generation of the lāhui in the values and traditions of our kupuna.
